5 Min Tip to Stop Worrying

Posted by Kamaljeet Saini

Let us look at a quick 5 min tip to stop worrying and start living…this quick tip can be applied anywhere, anytime…be it home, office or anywhere else. We all are creatures of habit. Something happened to us in the past, we reacted in a certain manner, then we repeated that same reactive pattern multiple times over and a habit is formed. The first time when we reacted in a certain “unreasonable” fashion to a particular “bad” event, we may not have had the right maturity to handle that “so-called bad” situation in a responsible manner. But unfortunately, many years later when our maturity levels and our external environment have changed, we still continue to react in similar “unreasonable” fashion to similar “bad” events. However, most of us do know that the right way to go about being more successful, more productive and more effective in our outer worlds is to be able to “respond” to events rather than simply “react”.

Over the years, I have come to realize that the habit of “worrying unnecessarily” is simply a matter of habit that gets ingrained in our subconscious mind. It has got no real foundation for its existence, but still, some of us worry all the time (I do not know about you but I used to do that a lot a few years back…now I don’t and I am pretty happy with my life at the moment…especially after I broke-through my worrying habit).

Having said that, here is a quick tip to help you break through your worrying habit. It will only take 5 minutes and can be done anytime, anywhere, even in office 🙂 The best part is that you will gradually start getting better at it with time and you will realize that when that happens your awareness levels will go through the roof…and needless to say, expanded awareness is one of the first steps to getting better results in any area of your life and being more “successful”.

So here is the quick 5 min tip to stop worrying:

1. Any time you find yourself worrying about something unnecessarily, start paying attention to your thoughts.

2. Sit quietly for 5 minutes and pay very close attention to what you are thinking that is causing you to worry or feel stressed or whatever…pay close attention to any past similar thought patterns that got you worrying about such situations in the first place.

3. If you need to be super clear about what it is that is worrying you, you may decide to write it down on a piece of paper or notepad.

4. Once you are clear about the thought(s) that is/are bothering you, quietly ask yourself, “Is this True”…”Can I be absolutely sure that whatever I am worried about is definitely True and not simply a habit”. Ask this question a couple of times and then pay very close attention to your thoughts.

5. If you are very very quiet and paying close attention to your thoughts, you will be able to see that whatever you are worried about is simply a habitual pattern and nothing else. The event that you are fearful or worried about has not yet happened and may never ever happen in the near future but you are unnecessarily getting bothered about it. Once you are able to see the “truth” behind your worrisome thought, you would have broken through a negative mental pattern and habit and raised your self awareness to a certain degree. You would have created what scientists call new “neural pathways” that would help you move through the “so-called-bad” situation in a more responsive and well-controlled manner.

Hope you like this quick “Thought Management” tip to stop worrying 🙂 Seek more ways and methods to raise your self awareness levels because “Awareness in itself is Trans-formative and one of the first steps to creating an effortless and unstoppable success”.
